WildBrain: Family Channels Shutting Down October 22, 2025
Canadian television is about to see another big change: four well-known kids and family channels, Family Channel, Family Jr., WildBrainTV, and Télémagino, will permanently sign off on 22 October 2025.
The channels, owned by WildBrain are not being transferred to another broadcaster. WildBrain has chosen to surrender its licences to the CRTC, meaning these stations will no longer be available from any TV provider in Canada.
Why are these channels ending?
WildBrain has said the closures are part of a broader shift in viewing habits, with children and families spending more time on streaming platforms instead of traditional linear TV. Family Channel, once a staple for shows like The Next Step and So Weird, has seen steadily declining audiences in recent years.
